Aquatic Services

WET Engineering can assist with any aspect of the aquatics design process:

Master Planning and Conceptual Design

We can coordinate feasibility studies for the proposed aquatics facility and provide an opinion of probable cost to aid in the decision making process from the start. A conceptual plan can be developed based on this data and can be used as needed by the owner to secure financing, for fundraising, or community involvement and comment, whatever the case may be. We can also evaluate existing facilities for feasibility of expansion and/or retrofit and determine the associated projected costs.

Design and Permitting

WET Engineering is able to deliver complete design assistance from concept all the way to biddable construction documents. Not only does our team possess exhaustive aquatics expertise, but we are also a full-service civil engineering firm which means we can provide site paving and drainage, stormwater collection, and utility design engineering services as needed. We work with a seasoned team of design professionals including electrical, structural, and HVAC engineers, food service designers, architects and landscape architects when necessitated by the project to ensure a turn-key product to the client. Having worked on projects across the country, we are familiar with permitting through hundreds of state and local health departments and local building departments. We’ve seen it all and know what it takes to help the permitting process to proceed as smoothly as possible.

Construction Administration

Our commitment to the project doesn’t stop at the end of the design phase. Depending on the project and the client’s needs, we can offer production of complete bid documents including formal specifications, bid forms, and announcements. We can also help with attendance at pre-bid meetings, distribution of bid documents, and bid evaluation. Once construction is underway, we can be there for periodic progress meetings and construction observation and can take care of requests for additional information, submittal/shop drawing review, pay request review, and final certification site visits.

Code Compliance

Owning and operating aquatics facilities becomes more complex every day with respect to government regulation. We were at the forefront with assisting our clients with implementation of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGB) that went into effect in December 2008. You can be assured that all of our aquatics designs comply with VGB as cost-effectively as possible. And as the Americans with Disabilities Act and Architectural Barriers Act Guidelines (ADAAG) become enforceable in March 2012 we will be there again to provide help with determining where and if retrofits are required in our clients’ facilities. We have been incorporating the ADAAG with our designs for years, so most of our past projects will comply. Let us assist with evaluation of your facility regarding the ADAAG or VGB requirements or with state and local codes and what it takes to achieve compliance.

Matt Boyd

Director of Operations, Whale’s Tale Waterpark

We were looking to install ProSlide's very first RideHouse and needed an engineer who could design a drainage and supply water plan as well as a mechanical room. We heard about the problems other parks had with similar structures, and couldn't be happier about our choice to go with WET Engineering. They were there for support during the build process and the system works without a flaw.

Max Usina

We have been working with WET Engineering/North Beach Engineering since early 2000. In every instance they were knowledgeable and finished work in a timely manner.
