Improvements to the UAMS campus included construction of an extensive landscaping and fountain installation on top of an existing parking garage. WET Engineering contracted with the project landscape architect to coordinate structural engineering of the fountain, specification for waterproofing and finishes, and review of proposed mechanical plans by the fountain equipment manufacturer. The design was complicated by the need to construct the fountain as lightweight as possible to limit dead loading on the roof slab, and to limit penetrations into the slab which consisted of post-tensioned reinforcement. The project was completed in summer 2011.
